NES Mega Man 2 Woodman’s Forest

Remix: Woodman’s Forest
Sheet: PDF

Inspiration

While practicing go perform a couple of months ago I got tired with the songs I knew and felt like learning another one. I browsed through my list of OSTs and stopped at Mega Man 2 remembering my extensive time playing including the fact that I had just beaten it a week prior. I had originally intended to learn the most famous Dr. wily Level but while I was playing it found myself accidently straying to wood man’s stage. Once I realized I enjoyed playing it more I decided to learn it.

Please excuse the lower quality as I’m inbetween sound cards and am currently using an SBLive.

NES Metroid Kraid #3

Third time's the charm

Remix: Kraid Three
Sheet: PDF

Inspiration

When I launched my first version of my vgpiano page I wanted to have one good version of this song since at the time I had so many floating around. So I sat down and recorded what to be honest I still don’t think captures what I was trying to do but until I revisit this song (which I doubt I will for quite a while as this game has other good un-covered tracks) this will have to do.

NES Mega Man 3 Proto Man

OST: NSF file
Mp3: Proto Man take 2
Sheet: None yet

Inspiration

I always enjoyed this song and I think everyone who played mega man 3 enjoyed the addition of proto man. The whistle introduction, the fact that you can never beat him and then again his theme plays at the end of the game, the full version finally!

While fooling around I started to accidently laern part of this song (something that happens to me often) and found that it worked really well on piano. I took me a while to get a recording of it done because I couldn’t decide how I wanted to arrange it. Even so this arrangement is not very good and I will one day re-make it properly.

NES Metroid In Kraid #2

fwoop

Mp3: Kraid technical version
Sheet: No sheet music for this version of kraid check 1 or 3

Inspiration

I was not vey pleased with my previous version of kraid’s theme so I tried to capture a more technical version. I was much happier with this version but still felt it was missing something, some of the feeling of terror that you can feel in the OST.

NES Mega Man 3 Wily Stage

Mega man 3 title

OST: NSF file
Mp3: The Last Hall
Sheet: PDF

Inspiration

I have to admit that at the time of this remix I had not actually played to this level. However, I really took to a remix by Prozax called Wily’s Ambition. After hearing it I was inspired to learn this from the OST and then record it. It turned out to be a lot of fun to play and I hope it brings a new perspective to this song as well as remind you of the time you spent playing mega man.

NES Metroid Overture #1

Mp3: Metroid Overture #1
Sheet: No sheet music yet

Inspiration

After seeing how much my first kraid arrangement was appreciated I decided to work on some more Metroid tracks. I don’t really like how this one turned out but I have had many emails requesting it so I’m putting it up here. It starts with the intro, then moves to ridley’s and then once again to kraid.

NES Metroid In Kraid

Kraid's Hideout

Mp3: In Kraid
Sheet: Zipped jpgs

Inspiration

While camping in northern ontario I brought my laptop along with me mainly to create journals of my time up north. On some of the rainy days I loaded up metroid an played through a little. When I got to Kraid’s stage I just sat and listened to the music because I didn’t expect a song of this quality to be there. When you take the song apart the harmony and melody they are almost two different songs yet together it produces a classical sounding eerie peiece that once you learn is really fun to play.

NES Ninja Gaiden Glass Ninja Tears

Mp3: Glass Ninja Tears
Sheet: None yet

Inspiration

For a few years I played around with this song. I tracked it a few times (in FT2) and one day when I was sitting around on the piano I decided to record it. Back then I was arranging stuff on a very regular basis so I could upload it to VGMix1. I was always pretty happy with this song and it was well received by those who remembered the original song.
